Money game, black on roll, what is the proper cube action? After you decide, scroll down for the answer and explanation.

The answer is no double/take. What is surprising is that according to Snowie, Black is a 70 percent favorite to win, so it is likely to think about doubling here. But when thinking about doubling, one must also consider the "volatility" of the position. Here, what is most likely to happen is that white will have to leave with one checker and black will either point on the remaining checker, pick and pass, or hit loose and close him out. But since the race is even, there is great volatility. White could roll big doubles and now, owning the cube, double black right out of the game. Or white could run with one and black fail to hit, and again, white gains a lot holding the cube.

By waiting, black will often win only one point instead of two, but he will almost never lose 2 points...so it's a good trade-off to wait.
