One of the top players in the game, Bob Zavoral, played this one wrong, so don't feel bad if you get it wrong.

Black has a 5-4 to play. Clearly, it is right to hit the checker on his 6 point. The question is, do you leave the checker there, hoping to cover it and make your 6 point, or do you keep it going to make sure you don't get hit?






It is clearly right to leave it there. Getting hit is bad, but the odds are he won't hit you before you cover the blot and make the point, and making the point is huge. Even if you get hit, you have time to come around again.
