It's a money game and black has a 6-1 to play in the position below. The question is, do you hit the checker or not?

Often, it is right to hit. Hitting can get you more gammons and can hurt your opponent's ability to make points in his inner board. However, in this situation, a hit might allow your opponent to come in on your 2-point and get a shot he might not otherwise get.

Snowie says it is wrong to hit. See below. I got this one wrong, but I am not at all embarrassed about it, because some of the best players in the world I showed this to also got it wrong. So don't feel bad if you did too. It proves, again, what a complicated game Backgammon really is.
