Post subject: Question on bear off |
|
|
Hello there
Match to 7, green leads 1-0, cube on white's side, green plays 5-2.
I beared off 2 checkers but gnuBG tells there is a 0'194 of equity lost.
Could you please tell me why it is better 6-4/5-off than 2-off/5-off?
Thanks in advance _________________ If the brain were simple enough to be understood, we would be too stupid to understand it. |

Good question. I think I can guess without having the chance to roll it out in front of me right now...
Your play: What happens on your next roll if white misses the blot?
The suggested play: Same question.
The equity gained by getting an additional checker off does not compensate for the additional shot(s) white will most likely get from this position. Espically since they're in no rush to crunch their table. If you have it saved play the match from that position a few times and let me know (if I don't beat you to it ).
Again, just a quick "over the board" assumption.
Hope this helps. _________________ I judge myself a success not by my accomplishments, but rather by the number of times I fail, but continue to try. |
