The Backgammon Online Rating

When a player enters the online backgammon world, he wants to play against someone on his own level, especially when playing backgammon for money. When you play a live backgammon game, you can check the level of your opponent simply by asking. On the online backgammon it's different, all the information you have is your opponent nick name. To solve this problem, the biggest online backgammon communities developed a ranking system that indicates the backgammon online skills of the players.

Here is an example to a rating method (the picture is from the Gammon Empire online backgammon software).

The system is using the statistics of every player for ranking and the rating helps you decide against whom you want to play.
