Welcome! most of us, the backgammon lovers, first hear about this game when we are young but
old enough to understand our Checkers game. Than, one day, We decide to turn the Checkers
side of the board over to see those blac and white triangles, after we had enough of this Checkers game
, got uorselves some kings we thought, lets see about this game
Backgammon—Hey, 
maybe this game is not so difficult, it uses the same pieces as Checkers game does and it even uses
the same board!
if we were fortunate enough to have some Backgammon player nearby, we started to play but if not,
it took us a few years to just put the checkers in their right place.
A few years since our first encounter with those black and white (or red) triangles and than came
the first time we had a real game of Backgammon, maybe it wasn't very fast but soon, 
we were playing the game in our trips, on an airplane, at the beach,
on the patio; maybe the popularity of this Backgammonis is so big because it is such a
great way to pass the time with other people.
As a backgammon player, I guess you heard about the Backgammon tournaments. most of us hear about this and think, I am not sooo good but it is not the way it works. The Backgammon tournaments are for everybody. All you need to have is Backgammon software that supports the option of tournaments and a basic knowledge of the Backgammon basic rules. When you play offline Backgammon you also have to be friendly but since the Backgammon game became available online, even this is not necessary...
That is right. playing on backgammon tournament is very simple. Sometimes you will be required to bring your own board and sometimes you will even loose some money, but that is up to you. if you decide not to play on money and to play only on the internet, you will loose nothing.
Even if you don't really remember the rules or the backgammon variation you learned is not what everybody play (I did not know this but the backgammon game has many variations), do not worry.
